It is really crucial to play a short stake well in a poker tournament. You’ll often get into a short stack for several different reasons, and if you fail to play it well, you’ll then be no doubt losing the tournament. Most of the people simply quit when they get onto a short stake, or they consider they desperately have to double over and start to shove their chips in the pot. And that is really a bad play.

When you’re on a short stake, it’s still possible for you to threaten your opponent.  Your opponent players know that once you commit yourself to a hand, you’re probably to get all-in. This is what that puts a great pressure over them because they are aware that they may need to put their entire chips in your stake. Of course, you can use this for putting a pretty good pressure among your opponents simply by making quite small raises preflop. 

Keep in mind that never put all your chips in whenever you are dominated. 

There a few hands which are better to be played with a short stake, such as hands like A7.
